Rimozione Tastiera / Scheda WIFI / Modem

Ecco come dovrebbe apparire l’altro lato a scorrimento completo.

Saluti.

    Hi,

    I have a Vaio VGN-ER130N.
I think the motherboard has problem and my system does not boot.

I found a motherboard of VGN-SR31M online but it has no CPU.

    I want to know if:
1- Is it possible to replace my motherboard with motherboard of VGN-SR31M ?
2- Can I myself replace the CPU? I mean seperate my SR130N cpu and connect it to SR31M motherboard? OR it needs specific skills or equipments ?
    Best regards.

Ciao, bella guida. Possiedo un notebook vaio VGN-Fw41J con 4gb di Ram e cpu t6400.

Ho installato win 8 e alcuni giochi come Dead Space 2 e simili.

    – so che il socket è il medesimo e tu consigli la sostituzione col suo “fratellino” P8600, volevo chiederti conferma del fatto che fosse un upgrade pienamente compatibile;

    – considerate le frequenze più alte ti chiedo consiglio su una pasta termica di buona qualità, eventualmente da riutilizzare nell’assemblaggio di un pc desktop ad alte prestazioni più avanti (argento, non argento, ossidi di alluminio etc…) ;

    – Sollevando il dissipatore si “scopre” anche la GPU e quindi va riapplicata la pasta anche a quest’ultima?

    – Dovrei cambiare anche le ram con frequenze aggiornate al fsb del processore (1066 MHz al posto degli originali 800) o non cambierebbe nulla?

    Grazie ancora e complimenti.

And also, do you know where to buy replacements for the plastic covers on the outside?

    thank you very much.

I think the VGN-SZ2XP has a different screen… You can find the exact model on the rear of the screen.. should be something like LTD133xxx It’s the most expensive part of the laptop (of this laptop)

You can find everything on ebay.

Hi, me again. First of all, THANK YOU.

I replaced my T5800 with a T9400. It works perfect, my computer runs much faster, specially the virtualization software.

The motherboard doesn’t have any problem with the processor, I looked at the chipset datasheet and it supports this model.

I had to upgrade the BIOS to latest version to enable the virtualization extensions.

The only problem is that the thermal compound was dry as hell, and the new processor’s surface is bigger than the older one, so i had to remove it and buy and put some new thermal paste. No big deal, but as an advice to others, be prepared if you don’t want to keep your laptop disassembled until you get it.

Again, thanks for the detailed instructions, with your help it was a piece of cake to do the upgrade.

  13. Torbellino (Rispondi) il 4 Luglio, 2012

    Sorry, wanted to write:

is the socket also the same? I could not find the socket that this motherboard has, and some T5800 (the one this laptop has) are socket M, some others socket P. T9900 is socket P.

  14. Torbellino (Rispondi) il 4 Luglio, 2012

Hi. First thank you very much for the detailed explanations, they will be very useful since I’m planning to do some surgery to my VGN-SR210J in the near future.

I have some questions on hardware replacement in this model, maybe you can help:

Is there a blu-ray drive available? Any would do it, or there is something to take into account? The chipsets seems to have hardware support for decoding, I’d want to replace de DVD drive with a BR drive.

About the processor, upgrading to a T9900 (for example) seems possible, the chipset supports it and power dissipation is the same (35 W), but… is the chipset also the same? I could not find the chipset that this motherboard has, and some T5800 (the one this laptop has) are socket M, some others socket P. T9900 is socket P.

Assuming it’s possible, what are the BIOS issues that may arise? Not working at all? Detecting it as another (crappier) processor?

And this is an off-topic, but what’s the big deal about BIOS flashing info? I’ve seen a lot of places where it’s treated somewhat with fear, but some other where it seems natural (as when buying a compatible but not original battery). Is it illegal?

Finally, video card is soldered, so no way to change it, right? :-s

    Thank you very much again!

    • erkinson (Rispondi) il 5 Luglio, 2012

      Hi there… A lot of question…

      1) Blu ray unit could be placed on the laptop… You have to remove the bezel of the old one and put it in the new one…..
      2) CPU?? The socket of your laptop, I think, is already a Socket P… I put a T8100 in my SR41M which had a T6400… I’ve seen many models with the Pseries (which I think is better from all the points of view)… The T9900 hase the same dissipation design but I think will stress a lot the laptop… Maybe a P8600 or P8700 are good processor to buy.
You couldn’t encounter any BIOS problem (i suppose, beacuse of other model with same mainboard equipped with new processor)
There’s no way to add feature to original BIOS… So, nothing to worry about flashing…

      3) as you said, nothing to do for VideoCard…

    Bonjour,

Grazie ancora e complimenti

I was hoping you could help me out with opening my SR290.
I have removed all the screws and managed to remove the back cover and access the motherboard. But after putting everything back together and screwing all the screws I am left with one extra screw! I have checked every single hole and can not find the place for it. The screw is shorter and fatter than the rest of the screws and it is the only one in this size. Any ideas?

    Thanks

The only screws I remember different from the others are the ones under the battery. But they aren’t fat!?!?
Do you removed anything from the mainboard??

    Hi,
Your pics are really usefull and comments well explained, but I have a problem:
Did you remove the hard disk and after the black cover or did you keep the hard disk and then how did you manage to pass through the black cover.
It seems to be very difficult to remove the hard disk.
    Thanks for your help.

You’re right, it is a bit difficult to remove the HD. I Removed the two screws that Holds the Black cover…
(the picture were taken in two different times, sorry)
but I think it’s better to remove the flat cable from here
      https://erkinson.altervista.org/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/HD-Vaio-SR-2.jpg
and then manage to remove the black cover.

But you must be careful because of the weakness of the flat cable.
